Clingan has started every game he has played for Norwich
Sammy Clingan has revealed he has been getting some expert advice ahead of his first East Anglian derby.
The Norwich midfielder has been talking to his Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington, a former Norwich boss, ahead of Sunday's clash with Ipswich.
"He said it's a special game and to enjoy it if we win," said Clingan.
"In derby matches you're always going to have to get stuck in, do the ugly side of the game and hopefully get the points you deserve."
Clingan is in his first season as a Norwich player, but has quickly become a first pick at the heart of midfield.
And ahead of his first meeting with Ipswich as a Canary, the 24-year-old admits that it can seem strange that such a fierce rivalry exists between two sides more than 40 miles apart.
"Because they're so close, well quite close, it's just to get the bragging rights really when they [the fans] go to work together," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.
"It is a bit strange how far it is and it's still called a derby, but it is the closest place to Norwich. I'm sure all the lads will be really up for the game."
