Norwich City midfielder Darel Russell thought Norwich City's 2-0 defeat at Reading was a cruel result and hinged on a controversial penalty decision.
The Canaries held the Royals until referee Trevor Kettle awarded Reading a spot-kick for a handball by Mark Fotheringham seven minutes from time .
Russell said: "I didn't think it was a penalty, Fozzy was nudged and it landed on the top of his shoulder.
"It's so disappointing that it was so costly," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.
"I think we worked fantastically hard, and put in a real performance against a top team in this league."
Norwich beat local rivals Ipswich 2-0 the previous Sunday, but lost 2-1 at struggling Watford on Wednesday, despite dominating at Vicarage Road.
And Russell believes the team's current performances point to an upturn in fortunes before too long.
"I think we've definitely turned a corner since the Ipswich game and we've been putting the performances in and we've been consistent this week," he said.
"We've been unlucky in the last two games, but we've consistently put in good performances and I hope the fans enjoyed it because I thought we did well today.
"If we can keep moving forward, get over that finishing line more often, and not get down from these two results, then I'm sure we're moving in the right direction."
