Wolves win raises Clingan's hopes

Norwich City midfielder Sammy Clingan has said he thinks Tuesday night's demolition of Wolves could reignite their season.

The Canaries beat the Championship leaders 5-2, having lost three league games in a row.

And Clingan told BBC Radio Norfolk it was about time they got a big win.

"It was just a matter of time before it happened, thankfully it was tonight, hopefully we can take a lot of confidence from that and push on."

Clingan added: "We'll celebrate this result then get back training for the Doncaster game."

The manner of the win was particularly pleasing for the Northern Ireland international, as he recently came back from injury.

"We pressed them high up the pitch, we gave our defenders a bit more time to push up and condense the pitch, I thought that went well," he added.

Clingan said he also hopes the result will make the rest of the league sit up and take notice, despite their lowly position - just above the relegation zone.

"I think we're sitting in a position that's a bit false, I think we've put in some good performances this season and haven't got the rub of the green.

"Thankfully we've got five today and hopefully we'll get a few more on Saturday and in the games to come," he said.
