Northampton Town manager Ian Sampson has admitted the Carling Cup win against Liverpool has taken its toll.
The Cobblers beat Liverpool in the third round of the cup but last week's defeat by Macclesfield left them 19th in League Two.
"The cup run and the amount of games we have played in a short space of time has taken it's toll," Sampson told BBC Radio Northampton.
"They did look tired but we've had a week to recover and go again."
"We've just got to be positive. There are going to be blips along the way as we have got such a young squad," added Sampson.
Northampton are away to Cheltenham on Saturday.
