Newcastle United defender Ben Tozer has joined League Two side Northampton Town until 16 October.
The 20-year-old's only Magpies start came against Peterborough United in the League Cup in September last year.
Cobblers boss Ian Sampson told the club's website: "He is a player with an excellent pedigree and will do us a good turn over the next few weeks.
"He was really keen to come and already his attitude to get stuck in and do well for the club has impressed me."
Tozer, who is available for Wednesday's League Cup trip to Liverpool, started his career as a Plymouth Argyle youth player before joining Swindon Town.
We obviously have a lot of injuries at the moment and we have been in need of a central defender.

He made the move to St James' Park in January 2008 after just seven appearances for the Robins.
"I tried to bring him in last season but it didn't quite work out then and I am pleased it has now," Sampson added.
"We obviously have a lot of injuries at the moment and we have been in need of a central defender and I would like to thank both Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood at Newcastle for their help."
