Johnson's equaliser earned the Cobblers another vital point

Northampton Town defender John Johnson has insisted their strong team spirit will keep the challenge for a League Two play-off place on track.

The 21-year-old, on loan from Middlesbrough to the end of the season, scored the Cobblers' late equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Lincoln City.

"We're massive on team spirit and that helps us through games," Johnson told BBC Radio Northampton.

"We kept going and on another day we might even have nicked it at the end."

Northampton are currently eighth in the table - just one point away from the play-off zone with eight matches remaining.

They now face a trip to struggling Grimsby Town on Friday (1945 BST).

"We know that will be a tough fight," Johnson added.

"They will be in our faces and we have to match their tempo, enthusiasm and determination to win.

"If we do that we'll come out on top."
