Beckwith has been a central figure in the Cobblers' defence
Northampton Town defender Dean Beckwith has praised his side's meanness at the back after helping to extend their unbeaten run to nine games.
Ian Sampson's men have conceded only five goals in that undefeated run which has lifted them to 13th place in League Two - now 17 points clear of trouble.
"We've done well defensively over the last couple of months," Beckwith told BBC Radio Northampton.
"But we have conceded two sloppy goals in our last two games."
He added: "We need to get back to keeping it tight and keeping clean sheets. If we do that we'll win more games.
"The back five and the midfield have been settled recently.
"That helps you to keep your shape and balance all over the pitch."
After falling behind against Burton Albion at Sixfields on Saturday, it took an Andy Holt equaliser two minutes from time to keep that unbeaten run going.
