Northampton defender Dean Beckwith has blamed himself for giving away the penalty that led to Port Vale's equaliser in last weekend's 1-1 draw.
The Cobblers, who travel to bottom side Darlington on Saturday, have not won a league match since 24 October.
"But for that mistake we'd have kept a clean sheet and if we can do that I'm confident we'll score the goals to win," he told BBC Radio Northampton.
"The goal on Saturday was my fault, it was just a poor back-header."
Beckwith added: "Apart from that they didn't create too many chances.
"Obviously we want to stop leaking goals and that's what we're working hard on in training.
"We know where we are and what we have to do to start getting results."
