Northampton loan midfielder Josh Walker has returned to Middlesbrough after suffering a dislocated shoulder which could rule him out for the season.
The 20-year-old suffered the injury during Tuesday's 3-1 defeat by Hereford in League Two.
He was due to be at Sixfields until January after joining in November.
Northampton boss Ian Sampson told the club website: "He has got to have an operation on his shoulder and could be out for the rest of the season."
