Curtis started his career at Manchester United where he played 19 times.
Northampton Town midfielder John Curtis believes caretaker manager Ian Sampson should not be judged after just a handful of games at Sixfields.
Sampson took charge of his first game on Saturday but the Cobblers went down 5-2 at Notts County.
The former Northampton defender only has only a short time to prove he should be handed the job permanently.
However, Curtis told BBC Radio Northampton: "I think anyone who judges a manager on two games is foolish."
He added: "It's going to take a long time to judge Sammo as a manager.
He's got a fantastic football brain, he knows the game inside-out and he knows this club inside-out."
Northampton are currently in the bottom half of League Two and have lost their last three league games, but Curtis believes it is only a matter of time before things turn around.
"Nobody becomes a bad player overnight" he said. "A lot of players have left the club and a lot of new faces have come in, I think it is just a matter of time before things click."
