Newcastle United squad set for long haul - Kevin Nolan
Top-scorer Nolan has 12 goals for Newcastle this season
Newcastle midfielder Kevin Nolan says his side know being the current Championship leaders does not mean they are guaranteed to win promotion.
The Magpies have a five-point lead at the top of the table with 14 games to play but Nolan says it will be business as usual until promotion is secured.
"We're not seeing light at the end of the tunnel," he told BBC Newcastle.
"The only time we'll see it is when it's full beam and we're back to where we belong, that's the Premier League."
Nolan's contribution to Newcastle's promotion bid has seen him score 12 goals in all competitions making him the club's top scorer at this stage of the season.
And with tallies starting to rise around him, thanks to team-mates such as Peter Lovenkrands, Shola Ameobi and Andy Carroll, the former Bolton man believes the future is bright for the Magpies in the latter part of the campaign.
"We've had a bit of banter about all of us fighting for this top scorer's position, but I'm not really bothered about it, as long as we keep clocking up wins," Nolan added.
"We had had a few one-nils and two-nils, and it was something we talked about, we said we've got to start killing teams off.
"I think in the last two or three games we've proved that we can score the goals, goals are coming from around the team.
"We've got to make sure that we don't get carried away, and I know the fans want us to go for it, but we have to make sure that sure that we do the job which is winning games."
