Focus is on Newcastle, not our rivals, says Kevin Nolan
Nolan believes Newcastle are focused on promotion
Newcastle United midfielder Kevin Nolan has rubbished suggestions that results elsewhere impacted on their performance in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Leicester.
Second-placed Nottingham Forest lost at Derby before the Magpies played, but Nolan says the players are only focused on their own campaign.
"Everything's in our hands, we know we're the only ones who will get us promoted," he told BBC Newcastle.
"Teams are going to want to beat us, so every week we go for three points."
Saturday's game was another match with television commitments for the Magpies, but the later kick-off time did little to dissuade Newcastle supporters from making the trip to the East Midlands.
And Nolan was keen to pay compliment to those fans who saw a frustrating display on a chilly evening at the Walkers Stadium.
"We had I don't know how many thousand fans here and they were fantastic again," he said.
"We've got to start producing for them and make sure that we send them home happy.
"But hopefully when they see the league table, we're sitting at the top of the table with a game in hand, it's not all that bad."
