McIlroy has won 32 of his 106 league games with Morecambe
Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy has admitted he is going through his worst spell since taking charge in 2005.
McIlroy has come under pressure from a section of the club's supporters after seeing his side win only one of their 14 league games.
"We are all working hard to try and rectify the situation," McIlroy told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"I'm the one who takes the stick and people point their finger at and that's part of management."
McIlroy oversaw Morecambe's rise to the Football League for the first time in their history when the Shrimps beat Exeter in the 2007 Conference play-off final.
After finishing 11th in the following two seasons, Morecambe have struggled during the current campaign and go into Saturday's game against Lincoln City in 21st place.
"We've had nine draws and the disappointing thing is we didn't manage to turn some of those draws into wins," said McIlroy.
"I pick the team and I tell them which way we want to play, but at the end of the day sometimes players have to go out there and look after themselves.
"It's very frustrating at the moment but I know one or two good results can turn things in our favour and that's what I keep telling the players."
