Oxford City started their pre-season campaign with a 3-0 defeat by Milton Keynes Dons at Court Place Farm.
Fielding a strong side, the visitors took the lead in the 24th minute when midfielder Luke Chadwick fired home from close range.
City were not able to draw level and went on to concede a further two goals in the second half.
Debutants Angelo Balanta and Oscar Martin Hernandez opened their accounts for the Buckinghamshire side.
In the latter stages City did manage to distribute the ball with more purpose, however failed to create much in the way of clear cut chances.
City assistant manager Doug Graham said: "It's still very early on but it was a worthwhile game for us. It was good to see the squad out there working together.
"Our thanks go out to Milton Keynes and we wish them every success for next season."
Oxford City now travel to Thatcham Town on Tuesday before taking on AFC Totton on Saturday, 24 July.
