Jesper Blomqvist will get a chance to earn himself a move to Middlesbrough by playing in a friendly match on Thursday.

The injury-plagued Swedish midfielder has been training with the club on their pre-season trip to Austria this week after being released by Everton at the end of last season.

Blomqvist has been named to start in midfield against Italian side Udinese in the match near Salzburg.

The 28-year-old made 18 appearances for Everton after joining on a free transfer from Manchester United.

"The player is training with us until the end of the week. We are just having a look at him," Boro assistant manager Bill Beswick told the club's website.
