| Thursday, 13 February, 2003, 00:37 GMT New date for Tyne-Tees derby ![]() Robson was not pleased with the postponement The Tyne-Tees derby between Middlesbrough and Newcastle has been re-arranged for Wednesday, 5 March. The original match was postponed last weekend because of heavy snow on Teesside. The north east rivals had discussed using their respective early exits from the FA Cup to stage the game on the fifth round weekend of 15 and 16 of February. But the re-arranged game has now been confirmed for 5 March, with a 1945 GMT kick-off. Newcastle manager Bobby Robson was angry at the Friday lunch-time decision to call off the original match as the Riverside Stadium's terraces and approach roads were ice-covered. Robson hinted that Middlesbrough showed little enthusiasm tp stage the match. But an FA spokesman confirmed that Boro had no case to answer. Robson was furious at the postponement as his side had hoped to cement their second place in the Premiership. But opposite number Steve McClaren insisted his team were desperate to play after losing their unbeaten record at the Riverside Stadium earlier in the week, despite suffering injury problems. |
