Graham Rix won compensation from Hearts last month |
Former Hearts head coach Graham Rix is among the candidates being considered to succeed the sacked John Robertson at Livingston, BBC Sport understands. Rix left Hearts last March after a disagreement with Vladimir Romanov over the majority shareholder's meddling in team selection.
And the Englishman last month won compensation from the Edinburgh club.
Now he is in the running to return to Scotland as manager of Pearse Flynn's First Division outfit.
The Livi chairman is not making public the names of those in the running for the job following Sunday's sacking of Robertson.
But he told BBC Sport: "We have had 10 people apply for the job within four or five hours of the news being announced.

"We have to get someone with the right chemistry.

Robertson was sacked on Sunday after a disappointing first season back in the Scottish First Division.
And BBC Sport understands that Craig Brewster, Terry Butcher, Joe Miller, Allan Moore and Bobby Williamson are among the leading contenders to take over at Almondvale.
Former England defender Butcher is presently coaching with Partick Thistle after being sacked by Sydney.
The former Motherwell boss was ousted by Sydney after less than a season in Australia and has been helping caretaker Jimmy Bone at Firhill following the departure of Dick Campbell.
Williamson has been out of management since being axed by Plymouth Argyle in September 2005.
Brewster returned to playing in the Scottish Premier League after being sacked as Dundee United manager in October.
Miller has led Clyde to a safe, mid-table position in Division One despite having a small budget with the Cumbernauld club.
Moore has led Stirling to second place in Division Two.
Livingston assistant manager David Bowman and senior coach Alex Cleland will take the team until an appointment is made.
