Robertson was unable to guide Livingston into the SPL |
Scottish First Division club Livingston have dismissed manager John Robertson. The 41-year-old was appointed manager at Almondvale in February 2006 and signed a two-year contract with the West Lothian club.
Chairman Pearse Flynn, who expected a promotion challenge this season, told the club website: "The board took the view that the time had come for change.
"We are approaching the close season, which is a vital time for planning the squad for next year."
Robertson, who was previously the head coach at Hearts, took over from Paul Lambert, who resigned after seven months in the job.
Livingston were relegated from the SPL soon after Robertson's appointment and the club have struggled with the financial impact of relegation.
They are currently sixth in the First Division.
"John Robertson joined the club as it was fighting relegation from the SPL last season," added Flynn.
"Although that season ended in failure, we had strong hopes of challenging at the top of Division One this year.
"Unfortunately, that has not materialised.
"We wish to thank our loyal supporters for their continued backing this season and hope that we can bring improved performances and results next season."
