Lincoln City striker Ben Hutchinson says he has been left frustrated after being accused of insulting Imps fans.

Several supporters claimed he directed abuse at them during the 2-0 defeat by Northampton Town at Sincil Bank.

"There were fans booing and abusing me every time I touched the ball," the 22-year-old told BBC Lincolnshire.

"It was a frustrating night for me personally. Maybe I said something out of frustration, but I never directed anything at anybody."

He added: "I definitely care. I play with a lot of passion and I hate losing. The fans are entitled to their opinion, but my parents were in the stands and it's not nice for them to hear. People have to take that into consideration."

Hutchinson has scored three goals in 14 league games since being signed on loan from Celtic by previous Imps boss Chris Sutton.
