Lincoln City could make more signings - Chris Sutton

Lincoln City manager Chris Sutton admits injuries to his squad may force him back into the transfer market.

He previously said it was unlikely he would make any more signings before the closure of the January transfer window.

But injured loanees Matt Saunders and Michael Uwezu have returned to Fulham, while Nathan Baker and Brian Gilmour picked up knocks against Burton.

Sutton told BBC Lincolnshire: "We need options. I'd like to bring more in but we'll have to see what materialises."

But Sutton admitted that despite the departure of Janos Kovacs, his playing budget was still severely stretched.

"Janos going would have freed up money in some respects", he said.

"But as far as I know, we're going to finish over budget so I doubt we'll be able to use that money.

"I think we'll need to manoeuvre in the market, but the problem is we can't."

During the transfer window Sutton has completed permanent deals for Adam Watts, Joe Anderson and Clark Keltie, extended the contracts of Gilmour and Cian Hughton and signed Saunders, Uwezu and Baker on loan.

Kovacs and Jamie Clarke have left Sincil Bank after having their contracts cancelled, while Richard Butcher, Aaron Brown and Sam Clucas remain on the transfer list.
