Lincoln City terminate Jamie Clarke's contract

Jamie Clarke
Clarke joined Lincoln from Rotherham United in July 2009

Striker Jamie Clarke has left Lincoln City after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

The striker, who has not played since the Imps' 3-1 defeat by Rochdale in December, handed in a transfer request on Monday.

Clarke was signed by former Imps boss Peter Jackson last summer and made 23 appearances for the club.

He scored four goals, three of which came in the FA Cup matches against Telford and Northwich Victoria.

After receiving Clarke's transfer request, Lincoln manager Chris Sutton told BBC Lincolnshire: "I don't want to keep players here if they don't want to be here.

"We're still in a fight at the bottom of the table and I want players who want to play for the club. If he doesn't, then he can go on his way."
