Lincoln City captain Scott Kerr looks set to miss the opening game of the season, at home to Barnet on Saturday.
The midfielder has been sidelined for the Imps' pre-season matches with a knee injury.
City manager Peter Jackson told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I think it looks extremely doubtful that Scott will start the season.
"He will probably step up his training this week but realistically it is too soon for the start of the new season."
