Onuora defends Frecklington sale

Lee Frecklington
Frecklington made 142 appearances for Lincoln before joining Peterborough

Lincoln City assistant manager Iffy Onuora says Lee Frecklington's transfer to Peterborough was right for the club.

The Imps allowed the midfielder to join the League One club on loan until the end of the season, but rejected bids from MK Dons for winger Dany N'Guessan.

Onuora told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "If you want to go on in your career you have to play at a higher level.

"If we had to lose anyone it was Lee. Losing Dany as well or instead would have taken an awful lot from the team."

Frecklington, who came through the youth ranks at Sincil Bank, is set to make his move to Peterborough permanent in the summer for a six-figure transfer fee.

Onuora added: "Anyone below the Championship is a selling club, and it was the right time for Freck to go.

"I think Dany's the best player in the division at the moment, he's a wonderful asset to us and he could easily play at a higher level."
