Peterborough United are set to sign Lincoln midfielder Lee Frecklington on a three-month loan when the transfer window for loans opens on 10 February.
The 23-year-old has agreed to the initial deal with a view to making the move permanent.
Posh boss Darren Ferguson told the club's website: "It is a great signing and I am really pleased.
"We have been after him for a long while. Last season we couldn't do it because the price was too much."
He added: "All the paperwork won't go through until Tuesday when the window reopens but I am delighted."
The move means Frecklington could make his debut on Tuesday night against Brighton and Hove Albion.
The central midfielder is Lincoln born and has spent most of his career at the Imps where he graduated from the club's centre of excellence.
He has represented the Republic of Ireland at 'B' level and has scored seven goals so far this season.
