Forrester happy to remain an Imp

Lincoln City striker Jamie Forrester says he is "very happy" that the Imps want him to stay at Sincil Bank.

The 33-year-old veteran of 11 different clubs and 527 games was one of three players told last week by the club that they would be offered a new deal.

"To date I've not had a contract offer, which is a little bit disappointing," he told BBC Radio Lincolnshire. "But I am just waiting to hear from the club.

"One or two clubs expressed an interest. But I hope to get it sorted."

Forrester added: "I feel like I have deserved my contract because if I didn't the club would have soon shown me the door.

"But I am sure it will be sorted in the next few days".

On the same day that Forrester was told he would be offered a new deal, the Imps' four other most experienced players, Alan Marriott, Gary Croft, Mark Stallard and Adie Moses were all told that they were not being kept on.

"To be honest," said Forrester, "some lads expected it because of the way team selection has gone.

"But it's a tough time, it really is. It happens at every club particularly in the bottom two divisions. There's always quite a large turnover of players every season".

Forrester, whose career tally stands at 161 goals, was the Imps' second top scorer last season with 14, just one behind Ben Wright.
