Lincoln City's out of contract players must wait until the end of the season to find out their fate according to striker Jamie Forrester.
The 33-year-old is one of several players who will be free in the summer and he told BBC Radio Lincolnshire the situation has not come as a surprise.
"I haven't heard anything, they did say it would be the end of the season so we all knew what was in store," he said.
"It's not ideal, it would be a lot better if we knew what was happening."
Forrester helped himself to two goals in the Imps 2-1 win over Chester on Saturday which assured City of League Two football next season and he remains hopeful of being at Sincil Bank next season.
"First and foremost I want to try and stay in the team, try to score as many goals as possible and hopefully earn a new contract," he said.
We are not sure if decisions have been made behind the scenes or not, we are not going to find out

After scoring 18 goals last season, Forrester has managed 13 in all competitions so far this campaign.
"There are a lot of other lads who are out of contract who are in the same position as me so we have got to do our best and try to be patient," he added.
"We are not sure if decisions have been made behind the scenes or not, we are not going to find out so there's no point in worrying about it just try and do your best."
Imps assistant manager Iffy Onuora told BBC Radio Lincolnshire the final decision on player's contracts would be down to manager Peter Jackson.
He said: "No decisions have been made, not at all, that's a situation that will ultimately be the manager's.
"He's getting all the DVDs off the games that he's missed and obviously he was here for a long time himself, he's an experienced manager and knows what he wants for next season.
"Obviously I will be there with input particularly for the games he has missed, the decisions will be made as and when and they will be for the manager."
