Campbell is ours for now, says Leicester boss Sousa
DJ Campbell hit 11 goals in 18 games to help Blackpool win promotion
Leicester City manager Paulo Sousa insists that DJ Campbell could still have a future at the club - despite leaving him out on Saturday.
Just days before the close of August's transfer window, the Blackpool target was missing from the struggling Foxes' 2-1 home defeat by Reading.
But Sousa said: "DJ is our player. He belongs to Leicester. And we make the best decisions for the club.
"Blackpool keep pushing but until now we don't decide yet."
Sousa did admit, however, that he is not the sort of manager to keep hold of an unhappy player.
"DJ does not have his mind in our club," Sousa told BBC Radio Leicester. "Then it's a good decision to stay out [of the side].
"He started the season scoring goals and was very happy. And he's an important player.
"But when his head is not with us, then it is better to leave him out as he can give us nothing."
If Campbell does return to Blackpool, where he spent a successful on-loan spell last season scoring 11 times to help the Tangerines' to Premier League promotion, he may not be the only deadline departure from the Walkers Stadium.
Sousa, whose Foxes side are yet to win a league game in four attempts under his command, admits that several of his players are targets for other clubs as he prepares an overhaul of last term's beaten play-off semi-finalists.
"Everyone is important, but not indispensible. It depends on the minds of our players."
