New Leicester City formation is working - Matt Oakley

Leicester captain Matt Oakley says that the Foxes are well suited to their new 4-3-3 formation.

City are unbeaten in the four games since manager Nigel Pearson formed a midfield trio comprising Oakley, Richie Wellens and Andy King.

Oakley told BBC Radio Leicester: "We've changed the shape and worked on it. We've good pace and power wide with Lloyd [Dyer] and Paul [Gallagher].

"We're doing well, creating chances and confidence is high."

The 32-year-old, who made his 100th appearance for the Foxes in the 1-1 draw with Bristol City on Tuesday, added: "Gally got three at the weekend and Lloyd scored against Bristol City.

"We're creating chances which is good, if we weren't, we'd have to revert to the 4-4-2."

Leicester occupy the final play-off spot in the Championship, two points ahead of Sheffield United and three ahead of Blackpool and Middlesbrough, with two games in hand on all three clubs.

"We have so many games coming up that if you blink you can miss four games," said Oakley.

"We're sitting in a good position with games in hand on the teams below and if we can turn those into victories we'll be in the play-off towards the end of the season."
