Leicester City striker Matt Fryatt has had surgery on his broken jaw and will be out for around eight weeks.
Manager Nigel Pearson told BBC Radio Leicester: "He'll be a big loss but we'll cope. His welfare comes first.
"The indications are that he will be out for around eight weeks but the most important thing is that the surgery has gone OK."
Fryatt suffered a double fracture after colliding with Brian Stock in Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Doncaster Rovers.
The injury is a massive blow to the promotion-chasing Foxes.
Although Fryatt is yet to score this year, he is still the club's top-scorer with 11 Championship goals, six ahead of loan signing Martyn Waghorn.
