Christie's inclusion in the squad to face Northampton was a secret until kick-off

Leeds United have received Football League approval to play striker Malcolm Christie, who recently joined the club on non-contract terms.

The 29-year-old former Middlesbrough and Derby man played in Monday's 5-2 FA Cup win over Northampton after being a surprise inclusion in the squad.

That was Christie's first game since being released by Boro in May 2007 because of injury.

He was not included in the squad to face Hartlepool on Saturday.
