O'Leary dreams of Leeds return
Former Leeds boss David O'Leary
O'Leary has "unfinished business" at Leeds
David O'Leary has admitted that at some point in the future he wants to return as Leeds manager.

And he has also reiterated his desire to take charge of his country - the Republic of Ireland - at some stage in his managerial career.

I haven't said goodbye to the Leeds fans because I hope, under different circumstances, I'll come back
David O'Leary
"I have some unfinished business at Leeds, and my dream is that I can go back to Elland Road as manager one day," said O'Leary in the Sunday People newspaper.

"If that sounds crazy, then people don't understand just how much Leeds meant - and still means - to me.

The Irishman was sacked by Leeds last month in a blaze of publicity, and is currently holidaying in Sardinia.

Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren has now leapt to the head of the queue to replace O'Leary at Elland Road.

But O'Leary remains disappointed that he is no longer in charge at the Yorkshire club.

"I haven't said goodbye to the Leeds fans because I hope, under different circumstances, I'll come back."

O'Leary also restated his desire to one day manage the Republic of Ireland, though not as his next move.

"Long-term, I'd like to manage my country. International management appeals to me, but probably later in my career," said O'Leary.

O'Leary regrets failing to win any trophies during his time in charge at Elland Road, but believes his team would have done so had it not been for off-the-pitch problems.

"My only regret is that circumstances on and off the pitch conspired against us and prevented us winning the Premiership in the past two seasons.

"We could have done and given the wonderful Leeds fans the trophy they crave and deserve."
