Batty has not played for the first team this season

David Batty will return to action for Leeds reserves against Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday.

The midfielder has been sidelined for several weeks with chronic tendinitis in his knees.

The 34-year-old had enjoyed a recent run of good form in the reserves though the door to a first-team spot remains closed.

Leeds boss Terry Venables has always maintained that Batty does not feature in his plans.

But Batty, who is a firm favourite with Leeds fans, is determined to continue with his comeback plans.

The former England midfielder is contracted to Elland Road for another 18 months at the price of �25,000 a week.
