Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr says he is pleased with the progress he has made so far in his summer squad-rebuilding programme.

Burr says money is tight around Aggborough so he has tailored his budget accordingly.

"It has been a waiting game as we made certain players available for transfer to free up the wages," Burr said.

"But with what we have had to spend I am pleased with the players I have managed to bring in."

Burr's experience of managing Stalybridge in Blue Square North last season has clearly stood him in good stead in his summer dealings.

"We have brought in Lee Vaughan - a right back from Telford who has a lot of experience as he has been at Telford for a long time," he said.

"He is suspended for the first three games of the season but we haven't just brought him here for the start of the season as he has signed a two-year contract.

"Keith Briggs is my former captain at Stalybridge and he brings a lot of experience to the squad and is somebody who I have worked with before.

"Then there is Dave Hankin who is a winger - a young player with a lot of potential while Tom Shaw has put pen to paper which I am pleased about," he added.

Harriers are not the only club looking to tighten the financial belt this summer and Burr admits he has to spend his budget very carefully.

"I still hear that saying: 'I can't live on that', but we all need money to survive," he said.

"There are lads who are realistic who are hungry to come and who are pleased to get what they are getting and prove to you that deal can be improved.

"I have probably lost three or four players I would have liked to have brought in because they are being paid more money elsewhere but that's life."
