Harriers sign Hadley and Courtney

Kidderminster Harriers have signed winger Kyle Hadley and defender Duane Courtney on one-year contracts.

Hadley was at Stourbridge last season and the Harriers manager Mark Yates was grateful to the Southern League club for their cooperation.

"I'd like to thank Gary Hackett as he was due to sign for them and they have kindly not stood in his way," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"We very much appreciate that and we're delighted to have got something done."

Hadley, 22, spent two seasons at Lye before he was spotted by a scout for Stourbridge, who signed him.

He played a major part in helping the Glassboys win promotion in his first season there as they secured a place in the Southern League Premier Division.

The winger suffered a setback at the beginning of last season when he broke in leg in one of the opening matches, but he has done enough in pre-season to convince Harriers he can come back stronger.

Defender Courtney, 24, was the subject of a £25,000 deal that took him from AFC Telford United to Championship club Burnley but left after one season for League of Wales club TNS.

Courtney was at Aggborough on trial earlier this summer and made a positive impression to earn himself a one-year contract.

Harriers are awaiting the formality of international clearance from Wales to allow him to compete competitively.

Harriers may well include both players in their squad for the pre-season friendly against Hereford United at Aggborough on Tuesday 21 July (kick-off 1930 BST).
