Kettering owner Imraan Ladak is refusing to rule out the possibility of the Poppies groundsharing or merging with another local club.
Ladak says he is powerless in securing a new ground when the their lease at Rockingham Road expires in 2013.
He told BBC Radio Northampton: "There's not going to be a Kettering in three or four years. Something needs to change.
"But it's not something that I want to propose or consider, and I don't think it would be supported."

He added: "Economically, [a merger makes sense] under the club's circumstances, but I don't want to consider doing it to people and their club.
A ground share is another potential option for the Poppies but Ladak admits it is also undesirable.
"We would lose income anyway, and a lot of fans wouldn't go, so financially and logically, a groundshare is a bad idea," he added.
