Gascoigne would work alongside Paul Davis at Kettering |
Kettering Town will name Paul Gascoigne as their new manager - if a consortium involving the ex-England midfielder completes a successful takeover. Current boss Kevin Wilson is being lined up to become director of football, with ex-Arsenal midfielder Paul Davis set to be the head coach.
Consortium leader Imraan Ladak made the announcement about the appointments to the Northampton Evening Telegraph.
Ladak expects the deal to be finalised next week.
"There has been so much speculation and it was only right that it should be all cleared up," he said.
"I believe we have the dream team here to make great things happen. We are all very excited about it.
"Paul has not proven himself as a manager. He has worked under some of the biggest names in football management like Terry Venables and Bobby Robson.
"But this is something Paul has got to do for himself. Along with Paul Davis, I believe it can be a great thing."
Ladak added: "But obviously the most important thing is getting the final paperwork sorted out and that should, hopefully, happen next week.
"This is not a five-year plan but a 15-year one. I believe Kettering are a sleeping giant and the potential is huge."
Ladak's plans involve making the Conference North side a full-time club.
