Kettering Town manager Mark Cooper has said he is flattered to be linked with the vacant manager's job at Lincoln.
Lincoln vice-chairman Bob Dorrian has said that Cooper and former Cambridge boss Gary Brabin could be candidates to succeed Peter Jackson.
"It's always nice to be linked with jobs, especially a club in the League," Cooper told BBC Radio Northampton.
"Lincoln have a good history in the game and we know from playing them last season what a big club they are."
After Jackson left Sincil Bank by mutual consent, Dorrian told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "Cooper's under contract at Kettering but fits the criteria of the type of manager we'd like to recruit.
"We're looking for someone who will take the club by the scruff of the neck and bring it success."
Cooper, 40, responded by saying "It's flattering, but I've heard nothing yet and we have a game against Gateshead on Tuesday to prepare for."
The former Birmingham, Fulham and Exeter midfielder took over at Rockingham Road in May 2007 and immediately led Kettering to promotion from the Conference North.
Last season, Town reached the fourth round of the FA Cup, equalling their best showing in the competition.
"If I go, it's not going to be to just any club," added Cooper.
"It would have to the right club for me and my family."
