David Nugent has made just eight starts in his 14 months at Portsmouth
Ipswich Town have refused to rule out another move for Portsmouth striker David Nugent in January.
Town chief executive Derek Bowden said: "It is a possibility. It depends on his fitness and Portsmouth's situation.
"Certainly we have been talking with him and his agent but it just didn't happen in the summer so we may have other priorities in January."
Meanwhile, boss Jim Magilton has a new worry over Alex Bruce, who this week injured himself on international duty.
Bruce damaged an abductor muscle during Thursday night's friendly between a Republic of Ireland XI and Nottingham Forest.
The 24-year-old defender's condition will be assessed on Friday ahead of Ireland's World Cup qualifier next week against Cyprus.
Ipswich are already treating long-term absentees Ben Thatcher and Tommy Smith, while Moritz Volz and Pim Balkestein have both missed games recently because of injury.
