Williams had a series of scans to determine the extent of his injury |
Ipswich midfielder Gavin Williams has learned that he faces up to four months on the sidelines with ankle ligament damage following a series of scans. The Wales international, 27, was carried off in the second half of Sunday's 2-0 friendly win against Greek side Panathinaikos.
Physio Matt Byard told the club website: "Gavin has ruptured the medial ligament. It's still very swollen.
"At the moment, we are looking at three to four months out."
Meanwhile, Town defender Tommy Smith, 17, has signed a three-year professional contract.
