Ipswich hit by Williams lay-off
Gavin Williams
Williams had a series of scans to determine the extent of his injury
Ipswich midfielder Gavin Williams has learned that he faces up to four months on the sidelines with ankle ligament damage following a series of scans.

The Wales international, 27, was carried off in the second half of Sunday's 2-0 friendly win against Greek side Panathinaikos.

Physio Matt Byard told the club website: "Gavin has ruptured the medial ligament. It's still very swollen.

"At the moment, we are looking at three to four months out."

Meanwhile, Town defender Tommy Smith, 17, has signed a three-year professional contract.
