Jeffers was keen to make a permanent switch to Ipswich |
Ipswich have withdrawn their interest in Francis Jeffers after failing to agree terms with the Blackburn striker. Town say they were close to agreeing a fee with Rovers but baulked at the 26-year-old's financial demands.
"We made what we felt was a lucrative offer that could exceed what he is earning at Blackburn," chairman David Sheepshanks told the club website.
"The positive news is that I can confirm that we have now made an offer to another player."
Former Everton and Arsenal forward Jeffers scored four goals in nine appearances when on loan at Ipswich last season.
He made it clear that he was keen on a permanent move to Portman Road.
But Sheepshanks said: "Despite our extensive efforts, we have not been able to match what the player wants financially.
"We have a duty to protect the wage structure at this club and will not put that at risk.
"The offer we made to Franny was a very good one in line with his status, however, now we move on."
Jeffers joined Blackburn on a two-year deal in July 2006 but has struggled to hold down a first-team place.
