Beye joined Marseille in 2003 having been at Strasbourg since 1998
Hull chairman Paul Duffen has confirmed a fee has been agreed with Newcastle United for defender Habib Beye.
The 31-year-old Senegal international is expected to meet Hull officials this week to discuss terms and conditions.
"Habib Beye is a player we believe can add quality to our squad. We are hoping to engage in conversation with him in the next couple of days," Duffen said.
Beye spent four years with Marseille before joining Newcastle in 2007. He has 35 caps for his country.
The bid for Beye completed a busy day for the Tigers, Seyi Olofinjana, 29, joining from Stoke City for £3m and American striker Jozy Altidore, 19, on a season-long loan from Villareal.
