Hull City manager Phil Brown says he will do all he can to keep defender Michael Turner at the club.
The 25-year-old, who was ever-present for the Tigers last season, has been linked with a £6m move to Liverpool.
Brown confirmed he had fielded an enquiry from Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez but that "no firm bid followed from club to club."
"I'll be trying to persuade my chairman and his board to keep hold of Michael," Brown added.
"I would dearly like to keep Michael and I've spoken to the player on a number of occasions [but] obviously when big clubs come along young men's heads are turned."
It is thought Hull are holding out for a fee closer to their valuation of £12m for the player.
Meanwhile the Tigers have moved closer to signing Senegal international Henri Camara after he played in a testimonial game for the club against Aberdeen.
Brown said: "He's got something different we haven't got and if we can sit down and thrash out a deal then he'll be a Hull City player."
