New Hull City manager Peter Taylor makes Leicester City full-back Damien Delaney his first signing at Tigers boss.

Delaney previously played under Taylor at Leicester City and has signed a contract until the end of the 2004-05 season at Boothferry Park.

The 21-year-old had just started the second month of a loan spell at Mansfield Town, but leaves Field Mill after Hull agreed to pay Leicester a fee believed to be in the region of �50,000.

Delaney is expected to make his Hull debut against Torquay on Saturday.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for myself and from what I've seen with the new stadium and everything, there'd be First Division clubs who would be proud to have what Hull City have," Delaney told Hull's website.

"All the ingredients seem to be here and in Peter Taylor I think the club has the right man for the job."

Delaney was signed by Taylor at Leicester for �50,000 from Cork City in October, 2000 and made five appearances in the Premiership during his first season at Filbert Street.

However, he made just four appearances for the first-team after that and had spells at Stockport County and Huddersfield Town last season.
