Huddersfield Town close to facilities deal

Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town hope to receive the go ahead to build a new multi-million pound training facility within the next three weeks.

Members of the recreational club at Syngenta, where the Terriers currently train, will vote on the proposal on Monday, 29 November.

Town would build Premier League standard pitches for themselves and new facilities for the recreational club.

The Syngenta committee has recommend that their members accept the proposal.

Town manager Lee Clark told BBC Radio Leeds: "It would be an unbelievable step forward for the football club but it would also help the local community.

"It starts to bring together my vision for the club. We want to bring the academy and first team together and get a relationship built from the eight-year-olds all the way up to the first team.

"We have a great relationship with everyone at Syngenta and we want to make that link stronger.

"The facilities would be closer to the stadium and it's in the centre of Town, which means fans could come and watch us more easily. I always want to encourage that.

"This would make the club and the local community much tighter and that's very important."

"We are all excited and hope it all goes positively for us. If it does then it benefits all parties."

Under the proposal, the facilities will be renamed as the Canalside.
