Histon player-manager David Livermore says he may have to fast-track some of the club's youngsters into the first team over the coming weeks.

The Stutes failed to add to their squad before the loan deadline.

Midfielder Livermore told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We'll have to work with what we've got and try and get the players we have here up to pace.

"We'll try and improve them as the only way Histon Football Club can survive is to have a Histon-bred team."

The club had been working hard to bring defender Danny Fitzsimons back on loan from QPR, but failed to agree a deal in time.

They currently have four players on loan with Jack Ainsley having joined from Ipswich for a month and Danny Mills, Romone McCrae and Lee Wootton on season-long terms.

"It would be fantastic to have a team of Histon bred players and in the long term that's achievable," Livermore said.

"In the short term though we are going to need help from loan players, so it makes the job tougher."

Livermore cannot sign any new players until the January transfer window so Zac Mills, Jim Stevenson and Ed Adjei may be forced into more regular action.

"We've got some very good players coming through at this football club and we've already seen the likes of Jim Stevenson stepping into the team," Livermore said.
