Histon boss David Livermore backs loanee Jack Ainsley
Histon manager David Livermore has backed loanee Jack Ainsley to prove himself at Bridge Road, despite a tricky debut at Luton.
The 20-year-old Ipswich defender was at fault for two goals and conceded a penalty as the Stutes were beaten 5-1.
Ainsley had only linked up with the Stutes squad on Friday afternoon.
Livermore told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "He's only a young lad, but he's come from a great academy system and is a good player."
He added: "It just shows you how even if you drop to this level it's not easy, especially if you're short of match practice.
"Even before the first goal he was looking off the pace, but that happened to Danny Fitzsimons when he came from QPR and he went on to prove himself."
Regular right-back Lanre Oyebanjo missed the match with a calf problem, but Livermore is hopeful that he will be available for Thursday's match against Bath City.
"Lanre picked up a knock on Friday, he could feel is calf, but we didn't want to risk him if it meant he could miss Thursday night," he said.
