Injury prevented Stack from playing for Hibs in pre-season

Hibernian have completed the signing of former Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Graham Stack on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old joins on a two-year contract after training with Edinburgh club over the summer.

"I'm delighted to be given the opportunity to play for this club," Stack told the Hibernian website.

"My aim will be to compete for a first-team place here and show the manager and the supporters that I'm worthy of a regular place in the side."

Stack will provide competition for Belgian international Yves Ma-Kalambay, with teenager Thomas Flynn the only other keeper available to manager John Hughes.

"I could see from the moment I arrived at the Hibernian training centre just how massive the club is," said Stack.

"I realise that competition for the goalkeeping slot will not be easy.

"Yves has established himself here and, in Thomas, the club already has a fine young goalkeeper who has just stepped up from the youth side."

Hughes said: "I'm delighted that Graham has agreed to join us.

"A priority when I arrived at Hibernian was finding an experienced goalkeeper to provide competition and I feel we now have that.

"Graham is a player I've been aware of for some time. He has, I think, exactly the temperament I like to see in a goalkeeper.

"He is a big agile lad and has a great deal of confidence in everything he does."

Stack started his career at Arsenal before moving on to Reading in 2006.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 joined Plymouth last summer but played just six matches for the Pilgrims at the beginning of the season.
