Trewick was assistant boss to Turner before making the step up
Hereford United have sacked manager John Trewick and chairman Graham Turner has resumed first-team duties until a long-term appointment is made.
Trewick, 52, took over the role from Turner in April 2009 following the Bulls' relegation from League One.
But a disappointing season has left Hereford languishing in the bottom half of League Two.
"I was given the reasons behind the decision which I understand and accept," said Trewick in a statement.
Hereford lost 2-0 to struggling Macclesfield on Saturday, their third home defeat in a row.
I don't believe given all the recent circumstances that too much more could have been achieved

That sequence of results, coupled with home gates having regularly dropped to less than 2,000 since the turn of the year, proved to be Trewick's undoing.
And he was relieved of his duties during an 'amicable' meeting with Turner on Monday.
"This season was always going to be a time of readjustment and stabilisation," said Trewick.
"However, with over a quarter of the season remaining, Hereford are 11 points clear of the relegation zone.
"I don't believe, given all the recent circumstances, that too much more could have been achieved."
