John Trewick says time is running out for Kris Taylor
Hereford United manager John Trewick says defender Kris Taylor needs to let him know soon if he is planning to take up the offer of a new contract.
Trewick told BBC Hereford and Worcester while he wants Taylor to stay, he is looking at possible replacements.
"Kris was offered a new contract but he has stalled on that so I have moved on and brought in a couple of players.
"I am still prepared to talk to Kris but my feeling towards the situation is does he really want to be here?"
"He insists he does and if that is the case, then he need to get to me and discuss something before it is too late," he added.
Taylor, 25, joined United two years ago after his release from Walsall following the Saddlers' promotion to League One.
The return to Edgar Street of Ryan Green following his release from Bristol Rovers has further increased the Bulls' defensive options following the arrival of Ryan Valentine from Darlington and Keith Lowe from Kidderminster Harriers.
Richard Rose has agreed a new deal with United and Trewick says he is delighted as Rose is just the sort of character he is looking for.
"Wherever he has played he has given his best and you can't do any more than that and that's all I will ask of any player," he added.
United have confirmed they will take on Walsall in a pre-season friendly at Edgar Street on Saturday 1 August.
