Players want success - Duckworth

Worcester chairman Cecil Duckworth says the club's lack of Premiership success has stopped players moving to Sixways.

The Warriors have brought in only three new names for the coming season and Duckworth says their top-flight struggles put off potential signings.

"Players would rather join a team in the top six or the top four in the league," said Duckworth.

"Occasionally, when it is us or someone else going for a player, we have missed out because of that reason."

The Warriors have struggled with season-long relegation battles in four of their five campaigns in the top flight.

Duckworth says players will look at the league table and decide they want to go to a club where they are more likely to play in a successful side.

Worcester's only signings so far have been utility back Willie Walker from Gloucester and props Adam Black and Olivier Sourgens.

Duckworth told BBC Hereford and Worcester he did not foresee more new players coming in before the start of the season.
